As promised last night, the above picture was the one I was discussing with Chris O Leary. No doubt some of you are saying its a world gone mad and to a certain degree it has. Well from a government point of view anyway. Im sure the group who got out their sledgehammers and ladders (for the slates) wouldnt have done so much damage if there was something else for them to do, like a youth club or something along those lines. Its the same with younger drivers. All this talk of limiters and curfews for learner drivers is really getting up my nose. I dont care, I have my full licence for a number of years, but the people who have a state car and driver, a shit load of money not to mention expense accounts are missing the point. Put a limiter in a car, go on, go ahead. When that happens, said young person will go off and use this as an excuse to get their full licence quicker, which is a good thing......if we had the infrastructure to cope. Other than that, as soon as they get the full licence, the boot will go down because the limiter has been removed. Put a curfew in, go on, do that as well. Lets see half the young workforce outta work because they cant drive to their night shift. The country obviously doesnt need their tax euros.

The road situation is simple. People need to take a bit more responsibility for their actions as opposed to moaning "Era theres no Guards on the road" and from 3rd year on, teenagers need to get some form of driver ed, like they have in the states. Id even suggest the possibility of doing the theory test in your school etc.etc. At least then theres the mindset in young drivers, because they've been getting it in school for at least 2 years. The "Car Enthusiast" is another crew that are getting the name of "Boy Racer". Im sick of defining the difference on the show, but its not that hard to see. Old 88 Starlet (or any old banger), with cheap alloys, Nike Stripe (or equivilent, Puma maybe) = Boy Racer. The country needs a few speedways with a half mile strip on it. Theres the safe option for anyone that wants to drive their car at high speed and get it timed etc.etc. Just nosing around the net, theres tonnes of videos of drag strips in the states being used by the public. Spanner hurling his old Starlet down a 1/2 mile may be a frightening experience as the car rattles and threatens to explode, taking oul Spanner (or whatever his name is) out through the front window! Either way it makes for an interesting spectator sport! As for the curfews and limiters, gimme a break. Some of these "politicians" need a limiter on their brain.

Apologies to all about the Psychic segment last night. I got to it a bit too late, but fear not we will have another Psychic session during the week!

Tonnes of stuff coming up tonight including a small Starlet worth of giveaways!

If your going to be in or around Mallow on Friday night, check me out in Club Light from 11:30pm!

The official return to the land of DJ happened last night! A few photos later on, hopefully! Club Light started getting packed up around 12ish and by 2am, judging by the packed dancefloor, smiling faces and the cheering a good night was had by all. Im back there next Friday night and we'll see what happens after that.

Give or take a few hours of exception, if its raining tomorrow it'll be raining for a month. At this stage Ive cleaned up hundreds of gallons of puppy piss and nearly a tonne of the other shite (!). Life couldnt be better!

Eventually made the all important "My Xbox360 is shagged again" phone call on Sunday and lo and behold it was picked up Monday afternoon. Microsoft cant be faulted for their customer service, just the oul bit of reliability aint great. Third time lucky...heres hoping.

Cheers for the mails and comments about going back gigging. Im really looking forward to going back spinning again, so heres hoping some of you regular blog readers can turn up on the night. Roll on Club Light this Friday.

Thats about it for now. Time is against me as always. Saturday Im gonna have a fair few pics up of Club Light from Mallow, so pencil that into the oul diary!!!

Well thats true, but when its done nothing but rain for the last 3 weeks its kinda difficult and considering he's so small we cant exactly teach him to use the jacks. I dont think his paws could reach the flushing handle! We've had about 4 hours of sunshine in the last few weeks and inches and inches of rain. If any of you are gardeners, you'll know theres "Savage Growth". Looking at my back garden at the moment, you'll get no argument for me. Im convinced I saw a herd of Wildebeest grazing on it last night!

The Cork Film Festival is in full swing and some great movies are hitting big screens around Cork. That said, I have little opportunity to see anything, but I am looking forward to seeing Borat on Friday night!

Speaking of movies, whats peoples take on the new Scorsese flick, The Departed! Comments below if ya please. I wanted to take this in last week, but alas certain cinemas didnt have a late show on of said flick. Why? Who knows. New Police Story is the latest Jackie Chan flick to hit the big screen over here in the next couple of weeks. Any of you region 3 dvd afficiandos will know its been available to buy for at least a year now. Its not bad, so for any Jackie fans it'll give you a fix from October 13th! Besides Tenacious D - In the pick of Destiny, theres not a great deal of quality flicks on the way between now and the end of the year. I stand to be correct though!

Anyways, thats my lot for today, the more humourous moaning shall return before the weekend!

Well another week draws to a close, and what a week its been. From the Fermoy Bypass to Drug Party organising Taxi Drivers and with some brand new Weird Al I dont think theres too many people can complain.

On my trek home the other night, on the South Link, close to Mahon Point, I popped my "Holy Shit, theres someone driving on the wrong side of a dual carrigeway" cherry. They didnt seem to be driving like they were lost either. This car was motoring at, I reckon 80kph. As a matter of fact, it was going so fast that I was expecting to see a herd of County hall sized gorillas thundering up the link behind it. It would have been quite easy for this maniac to stop and turn around. Its not as if they were on a 57k of motorway with no exits. But in hindsight, if I looked in my rear view mirror and was convinced that there was a gang of building size primates inches from my bumper, I probably wouldnt turn around either. As Im sure many of you wouldnt as well. After all, remember King Kong and what he was able to do to a few cars! People who drive on the wrong side of the road, let alone the wrong side of a dual carrigeway are about one step above the people who drive for miles in a straight line, with a clicking sound and a green light flashing. Yup, the clowns who drive for miles with an indicator blinking. On occasion I wonder are they just going to drive into a ditch and keep going. Its all very Dukes of Hazzard!

Well done to all in Red who got nominated for a PPI radio award. Alas, yours truly didnt get nominated for anything. Obviously bedlam breaking out in a city center with teenagers (JC night) isnt good enough. Next year Ill be entering a piece about eating noodles in a bog. God Im fierce sour (not really to be honest, comedic writing!!!!). As far as Im concerned though, the only winners in all of this are the listeners!

Anyways, Im off to wander around a shopping center beheading a few zombies. What better way to spend a Friday afternoon!

Get it Off Your Chest Sunday 10pm, Sunday night only on Corks RedFM. Come on down and vent. As Bob Hoskins once said "Its good to talk" or as Bridy McCarthy used say "Ring the bastard up and have a good oul fu"%ing moan. Tis good for the soul"

Lots of feedback regarding the planned anti fur demo on last nights show. I have no idea if it went ahead today, or indeed what the outcome was. For my own 2 cents, Im a huge animal lover and I do think that the conditions these livestock are kept in, are at times terrible. Nobody could answer my simple question last night about the proof of cruelty in the 8 fur farms in Ireland. Thats it really. The Chinese are doing all kinds of crazy stuff to the animals, including dipping them into sweet and sour. Ive never worn an item of fur, simply because I dont think me walking down Pana with a polar bear wrapped around me would do much for the image....not even if I had a cane and a hat, and a cadillac with a leopard skin interior. These animal activists have their heart in the right place, but its like their brain is kept in someone elses fridge, in a jar previously used for holding blackcurrant jam! At least there not all holded up in some barren part of West Cork!

Our latest dial a date, as many of you learned last night didnt work out as planned. Crossed wires, cross pens and crossed legs and a plethora of other reasons were why it didnt work out. Anyways, gentleman (Lesbians need not apply this time round) this beautiful lady in the pic that follows is looking for a sports mad, car loving, taller than 5'5 guy. Man Utd fans preferred if possible.

Another dial a date with Aoife will happen a little later on. Simply text me the word interested when you Im on the air, and if a suitable applicant is selected by Aoife Ill only be too happy to send ye to the Everyman next week, to see the new Sherlock Holmes show. After that ye are on yer own. I have no idea where you'll be seated in the Place, so dont even bother requesting "back seats". Thats my lot for today!

Comments are turned back on!!!! Dont fla it like :)
Hello to all I met on Friday night and thanks to the Liquid Lounge for a damn good night out! Another RedFM night out drew to a close well after I had crawled home and if truth be told, it was a nice, quiet, event free night, bar the 106 exceptions. I shall be saying nothing on here but it remains to be seen how many tales will escape tonight! But if truth be told again, nothing will because my life wouldnt be worth living.

Saturday night we checked out the new Gate cinema in Midleton for the late showing of World Trade Center. You cant beat the smell of new. The place is looking well, while I admit there was some bit of confusion in my little brain about buying tickets and food at the same till. Its not the biggest cinema in the world, but the seats are damn comfy and its screen 1 while not gigantic, proved quite the enveloping experience. WTC made alot of buzz last week on the show, after our preview screening and it may well do again tonight. The movie, while not the best thing to hit celluloid is a gripping tale of heroism, and thats it. No underlying themes, nothing. It tells the tale of Jim Mcloughlin and William Jimeno, 2 PAPD who were pulled out alived by ex Marine Staff Sgt. David Karnes.
This is the marine that a few callers were moaning about last week. Callers to Cork Talks Back were wondering, why at random a Marine popped up near the end of the movie? Well he found Jimeno and McLoughlin. Its not that fuckin hard to figure out. Again it shows the height of ignorance of some people, latching onto nothing to turn it into something or indeed their way of thinking! At times you have to fight back the tears, but you always know deep down the guys are gonna get out, and the light Jimeno can see, is symbolic of the light at the end of the tunnel. Theres always hope!
I left the cinema with the feeling of "Appreciate what you have today, because it might not be there tomorrow"

Hopefully you enjoyed last nights rewind, and normal service is resumed later on tonight!
