The one with the other Budget

I'm not going into another mad rant here like I did back in October. But its bloody simple! This features more of the F word than in a usual weeks worth of posting, so be warned!

A couple of things

a) I don't want to hear how the Minster has been working very hard and hasn't had a drink in weeks. Didnt catch the name but heard that on an interview yesterday. I don't give a shit if he drinks or not. Irrelevant! I'm working fuckin' hard and so are the rest of the country, well those who aren't coming up with interesting ways to screw the system.

b) The mortgage relief scheme is a disaster of epic proportions. Its not the levys, sorry paycuts, its this. When people lose their mortgage relief, it will bring them to their knees, faster than a cheap hooker.

c) And for fuck sake, people need to stop getting depressed over this. Nobody is addressing the fact the people will attempt to take their own lives on the hardship that will be endured! Its not worth it. I know that's easy for me to say, but remember I'm in the same boat as you

d) I detest bringing the doom and gloom to the audience, in particular last night. But the Budget is something we have to do. It effects everybody! But as always, we'll endeavor to keep the recession off the show, where possible. And if I have to sit on a milk crate to do that, then so be it! We will all sit on milk crates together!

e) I have no problem helping out my country. The way I see it, we are all in the same boat together. The milk is spilt, no point crying over it! But whoever has spilt the milk, still needs to be drawn over the burning hot coals. So back to the boat point. We all have our oars, and we all want to row in the same direction. But somebody needs to stand up and give an estimated fuckin time on how long we're going to be rowing for and I'm not talking about Economists!. Somebody needs to stand up and say "I know yer arms are sore from rowing, but keep it up and we'll get there in 3 years or 2 years or whatever. Then ye can stop rowing and things will go back to normality.
Why is nobody giving any fuckin light to the people who built and are building this country?

Anyway, I said I wouldn't get into a mad rant, but shit happens!

Hats off to the funny or die folks or whoever spliced in the footage from the trailer! This is only parody and in no way condoning piracy!

The one with the mini movie review – The Boat that rocked

For some people, their impression of pirate radio is something that consists of bangin’ toons and requests to the biys crusing down Pana in the glanza. Back in the day, pirate radio was a different beast.

Film Title: THE BOAT THAT ROCKED

In the late 60’s and 70’s boats, ships and life rafts were hanging on for dear life in the North sea, broadcasting rock, 24 hours a day to over 20 million people in the UK. And this is what the boat that rocked is basically all about. A group of DJ’s on a boat, doing their thing with a coming of age story for a teenager, who’s on the boat after his mother ships him off to his uncle, as a dose of sea air will do him good.

Will Adamsdale (John), Tom Wisdom (Mark), Bill Nighy(Quentin, Nick Frost (Dave), Katherine Parkinson (Felicity) and Ralph Brown (Bob) in THE BOAT THAT ROCKED

The man behind the likes of Love Actually, Noting Hill and countless other movies, Richard Curtis is getting credited for writing and directing this time round. Theres a solid cast here including Nick Frost, Rhys Ifans, Bill Nighy, Kenneth Brannagh and of course the heavy weight of all of them, Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

Talulah Riley (Marianne) and Nick Frost (Dave) in THE BOAT THAT ROCKED.

There’s a solid performance from all in the boat that rocked, and you cant help but love the count, played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman who puts in a great performance. The movie, clocks in at just over 2 hours, and is paced quite well, but not quite as quick as some might like. As well as a solid performance from the cast, the movie is also constructed from similar solid materials. The boat that rocked has plenty of comedy, but for me there certainly wasnt any laugh your lungs out through your nostrils moments. So dont worry about choking on the popcorn!

On a final note, in a time where there is so much shite coming out from Hollywood with remake after remake (running moan throw recent reviews) The Boat that Rocked offers something different and original. By the very end of the movie, you cant help but feel a warm, happy feeling on the inside. The soundtrack is outstanding, but I just feel the boat that rocked could have rocked a bit more on the laughter front. Either way an enjoyable and original movie that is a great date movie and will certainly cause a cheesy smile or 4!
