Its been another super fast weekend. Do these things ever slow down. Some drunk fella started sizing me up on Thursday night inside a particular well known Cork fast food outlet. He then proceeded to start moaning and groaning about other certain talk shows, but said I was alright...thankfully. I didnt fancy spilling me chips and curry all over the place!
I dont know why, but I decided to add one or 2 things to my myspace account. http://www.myspace.com/vicbarry
Add me if your about! As I say over there, Im more a blogger than a spacer :)
Friday my parents dropped by for a visit and I donned my chefs hat. Thankfully everyone is still alive! Saturday was a visit to the vet day and I finally got to see Capote Saturday night. I can see why the Oscar went to PSH, but I wasnt all that gone on the movie. The fish got their 2 weekly clean out this morning. Other than that Project Gotham Racing 3 got its fair share of usage over the weekend!
5 Days to go to Piss up central, with Paddys Day. As the show doesnt air on Fridays, we're hoping to bring some Paddys Day action to Thursday night! Thats about it for now, Sundays being a day of rest and all....Check out the show tonight after Green On Red with Colm, from 10pm!

I was asked yesterday about Holidays. When, where and how! Im not a sun holiday person so If I do decided to go somewhere there has to be more to do than scratch yourself in 120 degree heat! Thats why I love NYC so much. I have a mad notion for the last few weeks of driving to the south of France from Cork, to see a bridge and drive over it. After that, an oul U-e and come home! According to one route planner Ive looked at, theres 20 hours of a trip each way! This is the bridge, the Millau bridge in fact!

Today and Tomorrow are the last days of Pass It On. Theres been a great buzz about this game and people have been cleaning up with it. So check it out, you might be able to win some serious cash.
To celebrate international womens day yesterday, it was decided that I should present the show in drag. All I can say about this is 2 things.
1. Ladies I feel your pain
2. Thank Christ it was on the radio!!!
Before anyone asks, theres no photos. Something we've covered on the show quite a bit is the whole boy racer vs Car enthusiast thing. Another article in one of yesterdays papers spurned a revisit to the topic. Im my opinion; and I think its fairly logical, the guys (and girls) that are spending a fortune on insurance and doing up their car arent about to drive the shit in and out of it, ten times over! It makes sense. Its the clowns that are buying an old banger, drilling holes in the exhaust and putting saucepan lids on as alloys are the issue. Again, its a hot topic given the amount of car enthusiasts in Cork, but the big wigs in government and elsewhere would really want to cop on!
Driving through town last night, there was a Garda checkpoint on the South Mall, which is great. Good to see Guards out in force. It was the first time I was asked was I after drink, which again is great! Then I was asked for my licence and after the Guard removed it from the plastic and read it, he handed it back in 2 parts. The licence and the actual plastic folder. This drives me up the wall! If they can take the time to take it out, take the time to put it back in!!!!!!!!!
Anyways, Im off to stick together some audio for Movie Fan Attack, and no Im not giving any clues......
Check out the show tonight from 9 on Corks RedFM

Once again, the consistency of my updates suffer. It must be the whole "overworked" thing. Anyways enough of the excuses. Tonight is yer last chance to blag some lunch vouchers for Wagamamas on the South Main St. So if your up for some free grub, make sure you tune in! Get it Off Your Chest, Young Irish Women are notorious for going on the lash and tonnes more tonight!!
Tis late in the day Im updating this. Another fish decided she'd had enough this morning and croaked! Old age and all that. It was a nice service, few words by myself and the dog and then FLUSH!!!!! Thankfully you cant get too attached to a fish, although this one was around for quite some time.
She kinda made Joan Rivers look young! Im hoping to get my hands on Ghost Recon 3 on the Xbox 360 in time for the weekend, so Ill have the low down on that on the show over the next few days! Im sure some of the "regulars" will remember my Hard Drive issue, well tis still on the window and withering away to nothing! Some day...some day........That said, its time for a new PC in the next few weeks. Im about one more feck up before the current one goes right through the window. Im sure for anyone walking by, it might be amusing.
Tis almost show time, so Im off to get my hair, nails and makeup done!

Well the Oscars are said and done. Did I win any money? Did I shit! For one of the few times in living memory I stayed up for the complete thing. Not once did I began to get a dose of the nods, well maybe when Sky Movies cut back to that extremely boring and sullen presenter of theirs. I cant even remember her name, but christ she was awful. Where is Ross when you need him. I had money on Capote to win Best Picture and pick up Best Director as well. Why? I dont actually know to be honest. I guess the odds looked favourable. After Clooney won BSA, I ran upstairs..ok I walked upstairs, and put a few bob on him for other things. As I predicted on the show for the last few weeks, Bareback mountain would not win Best Picture. Deep in the bowels of my heart, I knew Capote had no chance and Crash was an outside runner. Even Jack Nic. sounded suprised when Crash won. The Oscars are getting a bit cooler with some of the skits and parodies that were on last nights show. Jon Stewart was pretty cool, but like Chris Rock I cant see him coming back next year. Its not that he was bad, he was really good but I think the Oscars have diseased us all with Whoopi, Billy and Steve. There expected, and thats what we're conditioned with!
I did cover the Oscars for a short while last night, and around 99% of Cork seemed to think that Bareback mountain was going to win for best picture. Well they were wrong, and so was I! I havent had much chance to update this thing over the last few days as we've been really busy with the show. Lots response to our discussion on Prostitution in Cork. In researching it, myself and Risteard spent some time in the Red Light Districts of Cork. It did look a bit dodge, Ill admit...2 guys driving around in a car at 1 in the morning. None the less, it was fascinating. Granted telling the better half "I spent half the night looking for whores" didnt go down too well!
I managed to take in quite a few movies over the weekend, The Weather Man and Jarhead being 2, as I cant for the life of me remember the other ones. The 2 listed are really good with some nice dialogue in The Weather Man, and Jarhead being extremely enjoyable from start to finish!
Thats about it for now. Some vouchers for Wagamamas up for grabs tonight, amongst other things!

Well I didnt forget yesterday, but I just didnt have time to scratch me hole :) Im in the same No Time boat today due to meetings. meetings, meetings! Really great shows over the last few nights between the prostitution, the rat infestations and contraception for teenagers. Talk of the town I believe (again, christ Im modest)
Thats it for now, Ill hopefully fill up this thing tomorrow properly!

Believe it or not, I actually forgot to update this thing yesterday! I know most of you dont believe me, or even care for that matter. But its true!! I felt really shagged last night (tiredness people, tiredness) and ya know it felt good, in a weird way. I didnt get in till gone 3. A combination of shopping for porridge (!) and looking at a mates new penthouse apartment kept me out!
The riots in Dublin were sad, and only an excuse for scumbags to go on a rampage. We had a huge reaction to it over the last 2 nights, with callers from Dublin, The North, The UK and of course Cork. It was very interesting to get all the different perspectives. While the troubles in the North is in our history, people cant live in the past forever. Granted some are, and thats why its so difficult for the country to just move on. Ive even heard a few conspiracy theories over the last 24 hours to boot. Sometimes, I wonder, do people have too much time on their hands.
The weekend came and went, with my long suffering partner coming down with the flu. So no Karl Spain unfortunately. I did though go wandering around Tesco and Lidl for an hour, on my own, which is a dangerous thing!
From time to time, working on radio has its perks. Ive interviewed many celebs and one or two idols in my time and occasionally I get CDs and the likes. Being a talk show, theres not a great drive on for the labels to be bombarding me with CDs. Probably one of the coolest promotional items arrived on my desk last night. An mp3 player from Aiken Promotions, loaded with a selection of artists that are coming to Cork for Live at The Marquee. All I can say is, if ya thought last year was good wait till this year! Savage line up. Im presuming to keep stum, until after the announcement, but its great!
Thats it for today kids!
