The one with the summer movie preview!

Yes, its a bank holiday!!!! Yes, the weather is good. And believe it or not, there is a blog update. She who must be obeyed is still in bed and the weather is too good for me to surpress my sudden love of the back garden. Anyways, to follow up from last show, heres a selection of the trailers that were played during the Summer movie preview!

Superhero Movie [ June 6th ] - From the same shower that brought you Scary Movie and the Naked Gun. Im not a big fan of spoof movies, but I can imagine audiences in Cork laughing out loud at this one. The parody of the spiderman man scene, did crack a smile on my face though.

Gone Baby Gone [ June 6th ] - Child abduction from the brothers Affleck. This is good!!!!

The Happening [ June 13th ] - Yet another movie surround the end of the world or something. From the guy that saw dead people and had Mel Gibson kicking alien ass in Signs. More of the same by all accounts. On the other hand, I enjoy my better half clawing chunks of flesh out of my arm.....during a tense movie of course

The Incredible Hulk [ June 13th ] - Does anyone want another big green bloke movie. When it looks like this and Ed Norton is in it, chalk it fuckin down! Possibly will get lost in the mix between Hellboy and the Bat.

Teeth [ June 20th ] - A Vagina full of teeth? Of course it'll be good. Instant cult classic..maybe. Or else straight to Betamax. Again, I say a vagina full of teeth. Im thinking the thing that comes out of the Alien's mouth.

The Edge of Love [ June 20th ] - Knightley, Miller and our own Cillian Murphy.
Probably not be suitable for men who go around calling everything "fuckin gay". But could make a good one for the rest of us normal folk....or Dylan Thomas fans.

Wanted [ June 27th] - Based on the comic book by Mark Millar. This looks off the charts. Jolie, legs spread, hanging out of a car, shooting shit up. Where do I hang my pants?

Hancock [ July 4th ] - Unless the trailer is better thant the movie, this one is gonna remove alot of pants. Mine is already off.

Wall-E [ July 18th ] - Pixar are back at it again, with what sounds and looks to be their biggest movie to be date. Instant classic I reckon. And yes, thats the wizard from Lord of the Rings!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars [ August 15th ] - Its Star Wars for fuck sake. Animated.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army [ August 22nd ] - The first one was fantastic, and big red is back kicking some more holes. And of course he loves little pussies.......(kittens for crying out loud)

Now those of you reading this will no doubt be wondering about something. The same something that people were wondering about last night. Well, I havent forgotten the Dark Knight, because I reckon this will be the biggest movie this Summer. I cant remember the last time I saw an actor be so consumed by a character. As far as Im concerned, there is no Heath Ledger is the new Dark Knight move [ July 25th ] . Just some bloke called the Joker!!!! And that is testament to the late Mr. Ledger!!!!!!!

So now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats it for the summer movie preview with a selection of the trailers from last nights Summer Movie preview show. Which was a once off, due to the bank holiday. I do think there is room for a mini version of that show, somewhere embedded in CTB. Watch this space.

The one with old folks in a doorway

Yesterday, I didnt get the chance for a dinnr at home, which is a regular occurance. Normally I do with out, but last night I could have ate the back legs off a pony. So, resisting the temptation to order in, I opt for the get something on the way home idea. I drive to Hillbillies on McCurtain St and order. The place is fairly busy with many elderly folk chowing down on breasts n buns and whatever else wont choke them or break their teeth. One nice couple finished up as I was waiting for my order and walked out. The "dude" was pushing into his 70's and his oul doll was not far behind him.

As I walked out with the bag of late night dinner, I spot the 2 who had just left canoodling in a doorway, more or less next door. Its rare I see an elderly couple showing affection with tongues flapping around. On further inspection, well it was quite obvious to see, herself was giving yer man a handjob. Again, she must have been 67-68 and she was pulling him like a plough. I got into the car, after losing my appetite and they were still going strong. The only thing I was worried about was the weather. The doorway wasnt exactly good shelter for the spitty rain that was falling. I was going to offer them the back seat of the car, but my back seat is fairly low and I figured they would never get out or get stuck and require a crane and an ambulance by the end of it. So I drove home!

Im not easily shocked and this didnt really shock me to be honest. And its one of the rarer sights Ive ever seen in person. The internet doesnt count!!!!! So hats off to the pensioners for some public action, but the disgusting thing was no-one stopped and offered to hold an umbrella over them. If I had one in the car, I would have offered but I didnt!

Enjoy the rest of your lunch or dinner!

The one with a Crystal Skull and some bloke called Indy

My memory isn't good and my maths is worse, but the last time I saw an Indiana Jones flick in the cinema was when I was sprouting hairs in places where; I didn't have any books to explain what they were. Either way, I was a little bit skeptical of the new Indy flick, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The trailers looked great, Ford looked superb as Indy, what could go wrong? 19 years is along time for movie series to wait for another episode and inevitably these kinds of flick never, ever live up to the massive Internet hype machine. Its impossible. Theres more chance of Victoria Beckham drinking a gallon of chip fat!!!!! Theres more chance that Paris Hilton will become a member of Mensa!!!! Feck, theres more chance of the Cloverfield monster being dead!!!!I am and always will be a huge fan of Lucas and Spielberg, these feens moulded a part of my childhood as they did for many of you. So I knew it was going to be good, but not sure how good it could be. Myself and Ger arrived in Mahon Point for the 11.45pm showing Saturday night, and strolled into a fairly quiet screen 1. Not a good sign I thought to myself, but it opened since Thursday and half of Cork were staggering around Cardiff. A quarter were still trying to digest the dodgy Chinese they ordered in, for the Ricky Hatton fight and 90% of the other quarter were more than likely having sex. The remaining 10% were going to see the new Indy flick!!!!

I'm not going to go into plot details or the likes, but if you are anyway clued into general pop culture, the opening 5 minutes will more or less give you a helluva an idea where the movie is headed. In particular the Hangar 51 sign. Basically, lookforthecrystalskulls.com
What didn't I like about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? Not alot surprisingly. The one thing that I was absolutely dreading was Shia LeBeouf. And no, I still don't know how to pronounce his name. Bar his "What the fuck were you thinking Mr.Spielberg" swashbuckling scene on a jeep, the Kid in Transformers pulled off a fairly decent performance. Should Indy end up in an old folks home for the next movie, can this kid pull off being an Indy type character, I would think so. But if that's the case and Indy is in the opening 5 minutes of the next flick, drooling and wetting himself and it all revolves around Shia, then Steven and George, don't bother lads. Please!!!!

Theres great action in the movie with some fantastic stunts and a couple of wondrous one liners. The die hard Indy fans will no doubt be whipping themselves as it is no way as good as Raiders and Doom. Its on par with the Last Crusade, just! Its a big popcorn movie, that couldn't live up to the hype, but its enjoyable none the less. Your going to love or quite possibly hate the ending. Me, I loved it! Theres also a nice little moment with Shia at the very end (the hat scene) that put a huge smile on my face. Harrison Ford doesn't look 120 to be fair. As soon as he dons the Fedora, you don't give a shit if he has a buss pass. He's Indiana Jones!!!!!!!!!! I gave it 7.5 / 10 on the show last night. I'd love to give it more, maybe a second viewing is in order!!!! Roll on the Blu-Ray. Some will be disappointed, but many, like many who had the attitude of the Star Wars prequels ("Its Star Wars for god sake") will just say "Its Indiana motherfuckin' Jones". And you know what, that's not a bad thing!!!!!

" Damn, I thought that was closer! "
