As Ive been saying to anyone who'll listen, Im another year older and miserabler. Either way, many thanks to the QE2 loads of you who sent in cards, texts, calls and emails saying Happy Birthday. Lets not forget the members of the night crew in Red, who marched in with a rather tasty birthday cake at the very top of the show. Its rare Im lost for words. So between the cakes, listeners calling to door, in particular Joanne with her kids (all belting out Happy Birthday) and all the texts etc.etc. It was a great way to cheer me up, as on Thursday night, as per previous post I was feeling pretty rotten. I had planned on leaving just after 11, but I there was too much going on and I was well cheered up by then. I managed to make for a Breast N a Bun and got home and sat on the couch watching the Leaders debate till 4am. At one stage, Chip in hand, I said to myself "Feck sake, your really pushing on now, watching a leaders debate in the middle of the night". But leaders debate aside, I had a really nice oul (bad choice of words) B-day. Given my increasing addiction to all things kitchen and cooking (which has been out of control for the last few years) I was fairly easy to buy for....for a change.
Going back to the leaders debate, well from an observational point of view, Bertie came out the winner with Enda lagging behind a bit. At this stage in the day, the media would really want to give Berties finances a break and concentrate on the real issues at hand. Every candidate that we've had on the show during our election coverage, opposition parties as well, are sick and tired of the whole thing. Everyone feels the real issues are being sidestepped and missed out on. No matter what, people have to get out and vote on Thursday.
Other than that, nothing else going on, bar the exclusive Rambo 4 trailer, which many of you have been calling the greatest film of all time. Listen up for it later tonight!
College pressures, Cork dieting fads, hen nights and stag nights, GAA tickets and a whole lot more from the show where its YOUR opinion that counts, from 9pm tonight!

The one where its typical!
Sunday morning I woke up to find my sinus had melted and my throat was ripped open. Sunday evening It was a bit better and I struggled through the show. Yesterday, not too bad. Today, knackered.com. She who must be obeyed had a bad dose of colds n flu things and now yours truly is dosing up on lemsip capsules. My nose is running like its just after breaking out of prison. The amount of mucus is second only to the stuff the Aliens used spew out.
As for blogging, this is all for today. I hit the ripe old age of 31 on Friday, so presents to the usual address. Cash only. No cheques. Postal orders and bank drafts also accepted. Minimum gift value - €500.

The one about Supermarket Queues
For those of us who haven't got the patience to wait for the delivery truck to arrive with the goods from an online supermarket, we make do with trudging to an actual one. I find it quite therapeutic wandering the aisles, looking to buy stuff to clog up the cupboards. If you're like me then you'll gravitate toward the checkout that has little people waiting to checkout, or just one individual with a hefty load, but half way through the checkout procedure. Either way, I got a dose of the wrong queueitis this morning. 5 checkouts, all open, all with queues of people. But using my checkout sense (tis kinda like spidey-sense, but geared towards checkouts in supermarkets) I found the shortest queue. How wrong was I. A bucket load of what ever Mrs.Bridy was buying wouldnt scan, so the checkout girls were running around, in marathon preparation style, trying to get prices. After a good ten minutes, I was told to go to an abandoned checkout and someone would be there shortly. It felt like a scene out of some futuristic, desolate movie. Man standing on his own with a lump of chicken breast in a basket, waiting for the rescue team to arrive. Some movie, some checkout!
Eventually the rescue team arrived and scanned through me items. I took a glance at the busiest queue and that had cleared in no time at all. So the morale of this is, if you are blessed with checkout sense and it starts tingling, ignore it. It can be very difficult, but if you put your mind to it, you can fight the checkout sense urges. Basically, go to the busiest queue you can find, they always go quicker.
More Roy - A Footballers tale tickets up for grabs a little later as well as the usual stuff, from the show where its YOUR opinion that counts!

The one with some Summer!
Well, Happy Summer! Hang on, maybe Im wrong, lemme look at the winda! Its dull, windy and overcast. Tis Summer alright!
Before I ramble about anything else, or before people just click the magical x in the top right corner, get yer holes onto monopoly.ie
Click vote now and vote Cork. I started this little campaign last night and I still reckon we can get Cork into the Top 5!
Speaking of Voting, the Election is underway and no doubt your only 15 seconds away from an Election Poster or someone that stars on an Election poster will be opening your letter box and asking is there anyone home! This is a clever ploy! Best advice is to say "No" and said vote hunter should scurry away to the next port of call! The city and county is awash with posters and in particular the South Link looks like a race course with truck loads of Vote #1 posters on either side of the road. I was actually expecting a pace car to be leading the traffic onto the link last night, or a fella with a chequered flag at the very least!
I'll leave you with possibily one of the greatest adverts of all time!
and one of the greatest songs of all time (If offended by bad language, dont bother clickin' play)

The one with....
Righto, no excuses this time round! Not that I have any either! Its been another mad couple of days in the land of yours truly! Probably the most bizarre thing thats happened is the cut a dog out of a couch morning, that I endured on Tuesday!
We have one of those mini couches for the lads, and Bilbo has a habit of making love to it and Gus has a habit of eating it. So after a few weeks of serious sofa shagging and extreme eating, disaster struck! I got up early the other morning to discover the couch overturned and Biblo half sitting underneath. Nothing unusual there, except he managed to get his leg embedded and wrapped up in part of the eaten material. I tried to unravel it, but twas on too tight. So he decided twud be a good time to take a bit outta me hand! Finding the sharpest knife in the kitchen I got back down on all fours and the bastard tried to eat the knife and me hand...again! I suppose I understood and eventually cut him out of the couch! I know its not exactly rock 'n roll, but when you think about it, it kinda is! Dog humping, Sharp knives, Snarling dogs embedded in a mini couch all I was short was a few hookers! Afterwards I went upstairs and threw a portable out the window!
Also on Tuesday, I showed my face at the Cork Drug Awareness week in the Rochestown Park, to give a quick chat to hundreds of students! By all accounts it went down very well with lots of people praising my speech! I suppose when people here about young girls bombed outta their mind and dirty old men (literally) molesting them, it hits home!
Snatch in the house tonight by the way!

The one with an update...amazingly!
A combination of lack of time and laziness is my excuse, but down to business!
The Virginia Tech shootings have been making the news and will be making the news for quite some time to come. A very, very sad day and obviously lots of people over here have been touched by it. Our thoughts are with the families and friends who have been affected by this. The one thing about this tragedy that has started to get on my wick, as well as others is the people trying to get their 30 seconds of fame! Dr. Phil for one, not that he needs any more fame. Jack Thompson is another. Again, he doesn't really need any more fame. These individuals were very quick off the mark to blame videogames for the tragedy. Yet were videogames found in Cho Seung Hui's dorm, nope! Past high school tragedys have had the same instances. Its videogames! A multitude of violent incidents around the world are all attributed to videogames. Cho Seung Hui was messed up! Mental problems etc.etc. But for these "high profile" public figures to come out and try and get their pound of flesh with these inaccurate facts is ludicrous. They would be better of trying to figure out the downfall of the mental health system or why nobody ever picked the many warning signs that people seem to be jumping all over in the media. While I accept the Cho Seung Hui played Counterstrike in his earlier days, thats like saying anyone whos a drug addict played PacMan in their younger days. PacMan spent his time munching pills and for any junkees outhere, don't blame society or whatever you want, just blame PacMan.
Something else thats annoying me at the moment is the amount of bullshit newsletters smashing through the letter box every five minutes. You might think "Ah but sure thats probably the regular newsletter from the local gardening club or whatever" You would be wrong Im afraid. Its from a bunch of politicians, from all the parties, who obviously think its a great idea to try and capture a few votes. In theory it probably is, provided these newsletters come through the door week in, week out. But they dont, do they? NAH! I really wonder where their brains are located, because its certainly not in their head! Weeks to go to an election, they decide to type up any piece of shit they can manage, print it and horse it through your letterbox. Well heres my suggestion! The ones that have a regular newsletter, week in - week out, well talk to them! The ones that are just trying to capitalize on the election by firing out measly newsletters at the last minute, tell them the hounds have been released and to "F£$ Off" before their bits and bobs are shredded to a bloody pulp! Its driving me absolutely mad that these fly by knights have the audacity to think people are stupid enough to fall for this. One cheap ass newsletter! Its like the long lost family member who only shows up when they want money! That said, fair play to the politicians who do have a regular newsletter, but for the other cowboys who feel they have to get one out as well, as time is running out, get a life! Im looking forward to the ones knocking on my door in particular the ones who have dropped off their single newsletter! Im gonna be like an old hillbilly man, rifle in hand on a rockin chair! They will be runinn'! At this stage, with the state of the place in Cobh, in particular the road and a list of other things I wont start ranting on, my attitude is "Fix it now and Ill vote for ya next time"
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..
............that feels a bit better. No coffee involved or anything! Ill leave the update with a few pieces of cheeriness....Oh yeah, belated b-day greetings to the Simpsons as well
Heres something thats proving a little bit more popular that my Vic-Cast serious

The one with sore fingers!
In over 25 years of playing video games, today is probably the first time I managed to nearly remove the skin off me fingers. I picked up Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360 this morning and rocked out for nearly 6 hours! My first time ever playing "one of them geetar" games and Im impressed! Sweet Child O Mine never sounded so good!
If the blog isnt updated in a few days (Tell us something we dont know) at least there now is a legit excuse, me fingers will have exploded....in a bloody mess!
