The one with Resolutions
Apparently, we make love. Plain and simple. We make love! Everytime I make love; as momentous an occasion as it is, theres no hammers, nails or paint involved. Granted there is some wood, but we'll leave that slide for the moment.
In the same breath, we make new years resolutions. Maybe Im stuck for something to get in here today, but is someone sculpting out there new years resolutions, as I type this??? Quite possibly not. I covered this on the show the other night and people seem to be belting away at the oul new years resolutions. As for me, well I have a wedding dress to get into, I mean my wedding is in the summer. Your inviting people you never see from one end of the decade to the other, argue the arse off each other about stupid things and health kicks go hand in hand with weddings and the month of January. So I decided, to have a little health kick between now and July. I'm not classing it as a New Years resolution or anything, its just a new outlook. But like anything, these things take time. And as long as there's gourmet jelly beans lying around the house, it just wouldn't be fair to the health kick to start it just yet. I reckon theres probably until next Monday to get through the shite that's left over since Xmas. Then it'll start, allegedly!
In my own view, if the only time of the year you can start off something new, be it a health kick or giving up hunting badgers or whatever, is January then we're in big shit! In all seriousness, why would you want to give up anything. Obviously there are a few exceptions to that, but lets leave the badger hunting and the serial killing out of the equation. So a big capital F off to the New Years Resolutions. If I want to take a long shit, and get pins and needles in both legs as a result of too much time on the jacks, so be it. I ain't giving that up! Or anything else for that matter.

The blog got longlisted last time round, shortlist and a win this year would be brilliant. There shall then be cake and TK lemonade to celebrate!

The one where its all back to normal..boo!!!
As usual; the last couple of weeks off have shot by like the Millenium Falcon with a working hyperdrive. And also as usual, the day you go back to work is spent wondering what better ways you could have spent your time off.
For me, this was the last, large amount of time off from the show until the wedding. Its all go from here on in.....yeah...of course it is. So we decided to get the whole, immediate family together for New Years day, and gobshite here donned the apron and set about cooking. And 4 days on, nobody has been admitted to hospital, nobody feels quesy and nobody has even had a dose of the shits. Not that, that would be a particular topic of conversation amongst parents and sons.
"So how ya gettin' on Mum?
"Grand, except I had a terrible dose of the shits after your dinner the other day"
"Really?"
"Yes. On the bowl for ages, and turkeys do really fly as do peas and roast spuds"
The house has stopped buckling under the weight of sweets, biscuits and drink. That said, there are still a few bits lying around the place. In my own mind, Ive decided not to take the health kick too seriously until all the remains have been destroyed, disolved or digested! That said, we took a huge offensive against the remains during the PDC Darts final last night, where Phil Taylor trounced Barney!

Other than that, the only thing the remains are the bastard decorations and the bastard Xmas tree. Every year it causes trouble on the day its supposed to go back to its attic prison. Every time, without fail the fecker brings trouble to the house, the family and my back. I was contemplating sedating it this year, like they used do with B.A. on the A-Team; anytime they wanted to get him on a plane. But its a fake tree and its impossible to get a needle into the fucker!
Anyway, its back on air tonight, 9pm. I hope I remember which buttons to press!

The one with Post number 1000

Well it finally arrived. Sure, the last few posts may have been shite to fill up the post count....or were they???? Hmmmmm
Little did I think in November 2004 that I'd hit the Publish Post button over 100 times, let alone a 1000.
And yes, this was a big anti climax :) These kinds of things never live up to the hype.
Not so long ago, nerds and geeks had waited 21 lifetimes for Star Wars Episode I. When it arrived, some died from the excitement, some got erections and promptly lost them when Jar Jar Binks turned up. It didn't completely live up to the hype.
Not too far from where I currently reside the Titanic thundered off on its maiden voyage and promptly drove into an iceberg and sank. James Cameron made a movie about it. And a successfull movie it was too. People flocked in their millions to see it, and when the boat tried to do its best Ice Breaker impression people just went "Meh, twas grand but what about Kate Winslets tits?" Again, it didn't live up to the hype.
My movie of 2008, The Dark Knight didn't live up to the hype either. As amazing as it was, people got themselves into a foaming tizzy about the whole thing, myself included. As I mentioned back along on TDK review, even if Jesus had turned up in a Batmobile it still wouldn't have been enough to live up to the hype.
Ya see, the mind is a wonderful thing. In my own feeble one, right now, I think that blog post 1000 wont live up to the hype. And of course it wont. Its a fuckin' blog post. Wheres the hype in that. Granted Ive built it up and as usual nothing lives up to the hype, because we build the thing up too much. But the most important thing for me, as the gobshite who writes this on a regular basis is YOU. Yes, YOU, the kind persons who drop by here on a regular basis and I'm genuinely happy that you are reading post number 1000. So, in the words of Andy Kaufman
"Tenk you veddy much"
The one before the big one
Y'all ready for the big anti climax. This is post 999. Who'd have thunk it? Yeah, I know. Nobody. Anyway, the big 1000 is on the way.
